First Time Fishing

Saturday was a cold, windy, cloudy day, but the sun finally broke through on Sunday afternoon, so we headed to the harbor for Parker's first fishing trip! Lately, Parker's been asking Jared every night before bedtime about his (Parker's) fishing pole that we keep on his bookcase (and that Mimi and Niki got him before he was born!). He was so excited to finally get a chance to try it out! Jared brought some peas and bread to try to tempt the fishies around the docks...Parker would throw the peas in the water and say, "Come here, fish!" We didn't catch anything, but Parker seemed to have lots of fun! He got to see a lot of little fish swimming around, and spent the last few minutes of the afternoon chasing seagulls around the docks. So, I'd say the first fishing trip was a success!

It Seemed Like a Good Idea At the Time...

Grammy and Grandpa sent us a box from Montana for Christmas, and it also included a whole bevy of packing peanuts. At first, I thought that it would be fun for Parker to romp around in them like a pile of snow...but then I realized what a mess it was going to be to clean up! At least he had fun for a little while...that is, until the vacuum came out!

Decorating the Tree

I had quite romantic notions about decorating the Christmas tree with Parker for the first time...although I quickly learned that the fantasy and reality were fairly different! We did listen to a great Christmas jazz CD (thanks Ian and Krista!), and I sipped coffee and cocoa. Parker viewed the ornaments mostly as new and exciting (though unfortunately very delicate and special) playthings, and was frustrated to learn that once they were hanging from the tree, they were meant to stay there! And then he was forced to pose for photos in front of the tree. But, he does seem to think that the tree is "so pretty," and loves the "lights on it."

O Christmas Tree!

One of my favorite things to do every year is go pick out our Christmas tree. We didn't get one last year since Parker was right at the age where he would have been totally destructive to the tree--crawling, pulling himself up, putting everything in his mouth, and unable to understand or respond to pleas to leave the tree alone! So I was really excited to be able to get a tree this year, and to bring Parker along for the experience. (Ever seen the movie "A Christmas Story"?!) We picked out a perfect, beautiful tree!

In Our Wildest Dreams

It's hard to imagine right now that Parker will actually be potty trained one day! At least he's got the whole bring-a-book-along-to-keep-you-occupied concept down already.

Clean Up on Aisle Seven

Considering how much Parker loves to play with brooms, you would think our house would be cleaner!

Going for a Winter Walk

Here's Parker all bundled up for an evening wagon ride/walk to check out the Christmas lights in our neighborhood.

It Keeps Getting Better

Just when it seemed like Parker already had the most awesome sunglasses ever, these came into our lives...
