Wildflowers
The wildflowers in our front garden are blooming, so of course I made Parker sit for a photo shoot one late afternoon. The one of him with his thumb in his mouth and his other hand in his waistband is sooo "him"--that's what we call his "safety stance"--it's Parker feeling his most secure. He's wearing one of the new shirts Jared brought him from Australia. Lots of beautiful drought tolerant wildflowers this year...

Zoom! Zoom! Zoom!
Parker was feeling pretty animated at dinner, and surprised us by suddenly reciting, out of the blue, one of the stories that we read to him all the time. He loves his "Baby Bug" books, and I've discovered that he has pretty much memorized every single story in them--he can fill in the blank/missing line of any story that you read to him from those books. In case you can't decipher it, this one goes, "Zoom! Zoom! Zoom! I'm going to the moon! If you want to take a trip, climb aboard my rocketship! Zoom! Zoom! Zoom! I'm going to the moon!" Seriously, this kid has a stunning memory.

Tool Time with Parker Prindle
Parker absolutely loves playing with Jared's tools (well, at least the tools that aren't sharp and hopefully won't maim him...), much to Jared's dismay, I'm sure (tools keep turning up in the darndest places when they should be nicely organized in the garage...sorry!). He is particularly fond of "knocking" whatever we will let him bang on with a hammer. Luckily he hasn't done any damage to anything yet, and he's saving us money since we don't have to buy him a "little kid's" tool set! Pretty soon he can start building his own furniture...hey, the bathroom needs a remodel. Let's get going!

The Anticipation Becomes Unbearable
After celebrating Christmas about four different times last year, Parker really figured out that presents are super exciting! He just about couldn't contain himself as he waited for Grammy and Grandpa Mark to arrive--I told him he couldn't open his presents until they got here!
Happy Birthday to Parker!
We celebrated Parker's birthday on the 3rd with a home-made carrot cake and opening presents. Parker is becoming very eager to get involved with the cooking in the kitchen, and so just had to help stir the frosting for his cake. He took a few little tastes of the frosting as it got on his fingers, and as I took pictures of him stirring he kept saying, "I wanna eat that up!" Grammy and Grandpa Mark came over to help us sing Happy Birthday, eat up the cake, and tear open the presents. It was a happy birthday! (Although I felt terrible that I didn't get Parker the truck that he was hoping all along that he would get!)
First Trip to Sea World
Parker's birthday celebration pretty much started this weekend--after his very full and fun day on Saturday, we took him to Sea World on Sunday! Thank you so much to Mimi and Grandpa Niki for the passes!! I was so excited for him to see the Shamu show...I think he was a little unsure of what the heck was going on, but I also think it made an impression on him! We've watched the videos we took of the show quite a few times since! I'm definitely looking forward to taking him back to play and explore more throughout the year.
One Pooped Puppy
After a full day out on the boat in the sun on Mission Bay, we stopped by Mimi and Grandpa Niki's house...of course we ended up staying for wine, pizza, and lots of playtime! Parker had a late, late night, and slept in until 9:30 the next morning! He ended up in our bed for a few hours in the morning, and looked so cozy and relaxed that I just had to take a picture. We finally dragged him out of bed and continued our weekend of endless fun as we headed down to Sea World!
Kayaking in Mission Bay
We had beautiful, warm weather last weekend, so we met up with Grandpa Geoff in Mission Bay; he was exploring the bay on his kayak, and we tooled around in our boat. We met up on the water for lunch, and Jared and I tried out Geoff's kayak with Parker--he loved it! He couldn't wait to climb down into the kayak, and was excited to try out paddling all by himself. Now we know that we can take him out on our tandem kayak, so we can all go paddling together! Parker had so much fun out on the water that he didn't take a nap all day...but as soon as he was back in his seat at the launch ramp, and before we had even pulled the boat out of the water, he was crashed out asleep. He was sooooo tired--look at those lips!
