Fire Truck

Parker and I got to visit a fire truck today at his "preschool"! One of the other little kids has a dad who is a fireman, and he was nice enough to bring his truck and some firefighter friends by for a little show and tell. Parker was, as you might be able to tell in the first photo, a little overwhelmed by all of the commotion (lots of little kids) and the huge truck--I thought Parker  was going to have a breakdown when a nice fireman helped lift him out of the truck! I tried to explain to Parker that firemen are good people whose job it is to help you! But he was pretty excited about the fire hat and sticker they gave him at the end--he even wore it to the beach afterwards! They even turned the sirens on when they drove away--pretty cool.

The Start of a New Year

2009 got off to a good start! The weather was pretty cold, so we got all bundled up to play outside...or just took the fun indoors!

First Time Fishing

Saturday was a cold, windy, cloudy day, but the sun finally broke through on Sunday afternoon, so we headed to the harbor for Parker's first fishing trip! Lately, Parker's been asking Jared every night before bedtime about his (Parker's) fishing pole that we keep on his bookcase (and that Mimi and Niki got him before he was born!). He was so excited to finally get a chance to try it out! Jared brought some peas and bread to try to tempt the fishies around the docks...Parker would throw the peas in the water and say, "Come here, fish!" We didn't catch anything, but Parker seemed to have lots of fun! He got to see a lot of little fish swimming around, and spent the last few minutes of the afternoon chasing seagulls around the docks. So, I'd say the first fishing trip was a success!

Cukoo Bird

Parker's got a real "thing" for putting various objects on his head and trying them out for hats. He particularly enjoys putting his lego box on his head and running around the house--? This is pretty much a once-a-day activity for him, and is usually followed by a trip to the mirror to check himself out.

Parker's Got a Brand New Hat

Parker decided that the plastic box we usually keep his diapers and wipes in would make a perfect hat--even if sometimes it covers his entire head and he walks right into chairs and mirrors and doors! He thought he was so funny and cool looking that he insisted on walking across the house with it on into our bedroom to check himself out in the mirror. I think it's a good look for him, don't you? (p.s. Please try not to look at the dirty laundry and unmade bed! We weren't prepared for "visitors!")
