Father's Day 2010

After everyone headed home from the Kona Kai on Father's Day, we took Jared's boat for one last spin around the Shelter Island basin. We grabbed some sandwiches and anchored off of a sandy beach where we could pick out our favorite house on the Point, then Jared and Parker threw some lures in the water for a little bit. Parker informed us that he was fishing for a swordfish--better luck next time. Afterwards, Parker absolutely crashed out asleep on the bow of the boat, exhausted after such an action- and sun-packed weekend on the water. He looked so funny splayed out flat on the bow. We putted around the docks for a while, now choosing our dream sailboat, before we headed back to the launch ramp, pulled the boat out of the water, and headed home. Parker stayed asleep for the rest of the afternoon/evening, not waking up until we pulled into the driveway at home! You can tell by the look on his sleeping face that he was truly zonked!!

Feeling the Strain

Once we finally took out the toilet, we became unable to spend 24 hours a day at our house. We have been extremely fortunate to be able to spend a lot of time at Paige's parents' house in Carlsbad, but this also means that we spend quite a lot of time coming and going from different places, which has really thrown off Parker's schedule and has been exhausting for us all! One evening, the extent of Parker's exhaustion finally showed--he had refused to take a nap this day, and as I was busy in the kitchen making dinner, I looked down to discover that he had absolutely fallen asleep right on the kitchen floor!! It was so sad. He was so tired. And we now have indisputable proof that he definitely still needs a real nap every day!!

Snoozing in the Red Bed

Mimi (Dee) passed an adorable little toddler bed on to us last week, and even though we weren't necessarily ready to move Parker out of his crib (he has always slept great in it, and has never seemed to want/need to move on to a regular bed), we thought it'd be fun to set the toddler bed up in his room to help him eventually transition to a "big boy bed." Well, Parker didn't pay much attention to the "red bed" for the first couple of days, but then after asking to take a nap in it one afternoon, he has been sleeping in it since--both for his naps and at night time! He somehow made the transition instantaneously--I think he has been sleeping in the red bed for about three full days now, and hasn't asked to go back in his crib yet. We still have the crib set up in his room, so it's a little crowded in there--at some point I think we'll just have to accept that he has moved on and take the crib apart! He sleeps great in the bed, too--actually, he has been napping for almost three hours now, and I can't get him to get up!! Honestly, I think that he hasn't realized that he can get out of the red bed anytime he wants to--he still calls for us to come get him up in the morning, and we have to call back that he can just get up!! So, we haven't had to deal with him getting up a hundred times at night when we're trying to get him to go to sleep--and hopefully it stays that way! Now I'm just a little nervous about the prospect of him getting up and wandering around at night while we're asleep...!!

One Pooped Puppy

After a full day out on the boat in the sun on Mission Bay, we stopped by Mimi and Grandpa Niki's house...of course we ended up staying for wine, pizza, and lots of playtime! Parker had a late, late night, and slept in until 9:30 the next morning! He ended up in our bed for a few hours in the morning, and looked so cozy and relaxed that I just had to take a picture. We finally dragged him out of bed and continued our weekend of endless fun as we headed down to Sea World!

Flying the Friendly Skies

We had the most peaceful flight up to Northern California for our Napa trip--Parker stuffed his face with a banana, Cheerios, and grapes--all before takeoff--and then fell right to sleep as soon as we left the ground. It was the most relaxing flight I've had in...oh, about 19 months!

Hysteria

This might be the hardest we've ever seen Parker laugh. Unfortunately,
he got this worked up right as we were trying to get him to go to
sleep...figures. Amazingly, he fell asleep pretty quickly after having
a dramatic breakdown after this...I think he laughed himself silly. He
almost didn't even take a breath! He was turning red. Daddy sure is
funny.

San Diego Bike Ride

Today we went for a long bike ride along the harbor in downtown San
Diego with Mimi (Grandma Dee) and Grandpa Niki. They were great tour
guides! Parker took the opportunity to catch some zzzzzs along the way.
What a way to travel! He woke up just in time to climb some trees and
have lunch next to the U.S.S. Midway, then splashed in his diaper at
the baby beach with Mimi on the way home. He was happily and thoroughly exahausted when he finally collapsed into his car seat at the end of the day.
